Fleet Enemas

October 3, 2009

Constipation can be caused for many reasons, including simple issues such as a lack of fiber in the diet as well as being related to more serious health conditions. If your constipation is caused by poor diet, the obvious solution is to simply improve your diet! However if this isn’t effective, or if your condition is not linked to diet, you may need to consult your doctor with a view to other treatment options.

Fleet enemas are one possible treatment for more serious constipation. A fleet enema is a saline laxative, administered as an enema. It contains sodium phosphates, which act by introducing water to your colon and making it harder for your colon to quickly absorb this water. This has the effect of softening stools as well as lubricating the colon for ease of passing!
