A Pinch Pleated Drape Problem

October 6, 2009

I have a problem with my pinch pleated drape, which I’m not sure what to do about. I really love the traditional look of this drape in my living room. The material is velvet, a cheap velvet, not silk, but it still looks fantastic. With the goblet pleats at the top, the curtain looks full and luxurious, and I love the way the light falls on it.

My problem is not with the curtain itself, but rather the hardware. For those that don’t know, the most common way of attaching a pinch pleated drap is by using pins that slip through the back of the pleat. These pins then run along a track at the back of the curtain, making the opening and closing of the curtain a smooth easy action. The problem is, my pins keep falling out. Every time I open my curtains, I hear this tinkle on the ground, I look down, and sure enough there’s a pin on the ground again. I have to go and get a chair (I’m not all that tall) and reattach it, and I’m doing this constantly. It’s driving me nuts.
