Choosing an Office Chair

July 13, 2009

The decision to purchase an office chair is probably more important than you might first realize.  The style and material of a chair directly reflects on its comfort and reliability.  In order to make sure that you fit your needs or the needs of the person you are buying the chair for you should answer some questions first.  Who is the chair for?  What is their job?  Would they benefit from wheels?  What is their weight?  How much time will they be spending in the chair?  By answering as many questions as you can, you will ensure that the chair you choose is going to last a long time and be just right for the person using it.  An executive will probably require a chair that makes a statement and they happen to make them just for that purpose and not surprisingly they are called Executive office chairs.  They are typically large, comfy and made of leather.  If you need the chair for a receptionist or administrative assistant type, then you are going to need something that swivels, can take wear and tear of someone getting in and out of it all day and that is ergonomically designed to prevent injuries.  There are of course many options like head rests, arm rests, adjustable height and color choices.  As you can see, the combinations are many and it should be relatively easy to find the right chair for anyone, but just make sure you answer a few basic questions first!
