Choosing Attic Stairs

June 17, 2009

Attic stairs come in so many different styles.  If you have room, go for something that is large enough to be comfortable for the people who will be using the stairs. Ideally attic stairs should be of the standard height, width, and angle of incline of other types of stairs in your home. If you do not have room, you may have to settle for a narrower and steeper set of attic stairs.  If this is not an option either, then perhaps you have room for a circular staircase.  Finally, the most common option for attic stairs in a small home is a pull down staircase. These are so handy for giving access to an attic space that is not used for anything other than storage.  It doesn’t take up any room to speak of.  You simply open the ceiling and pull down your stairs which will expand into a set of attic stairs whenever you need it.  It can be easily closed up and disappear from site, leaving room for other things in your home.
