Features of Women’s Ski Jackets

September 19, 2009

It’s time to head out on the snow and you know you’re going to need a good ski jacket this season. Here are some features to look for in a good women’s ski jacket so you know what to look for.

  • Check out how it’s constructed. Does it look durable? Are the seams stitched or are they stitched and covered or taped?
  • Venting. Are there vents where you need them? Are they easy to open and close while you are wearing the jacket? Try it out.
  • Draw cord. A draw cord will help to close off the bottom of your jacket so that not as much powder shoots up into your jacket. If you’re into powder and back country skiing, then this is an important thing to look for.
  • Hood. The hood can be detachable or hide under the collar. This is nice to have when the weather gets bad. A little extra wind protection can make a big difference out there sometimes. If you wear a helmet when you ski, see if the hood fits over the helmet when you are wearing it.
