You don’t need to know much about gutter downspouts to know that they can get blocked or clogged fairly easily with debris, ice or snow. There are some products that aim to help this problem like gutter covers and the like. These can help somewhat, but they may also just get to a point where water runoff simply goes right up and over your gutter entirely. One possible solution to this problem is to look into rain chain downspouts. What they do is allow the water to leave your gutter and drain to the ground without any possibility of blockage and with leaving less impact on your landscaping. They work by allowing the water to enter the downspout hole and then running through the rain chain until it hits the basin area.
Gutter chains, as they are sometimes called, help to minimize the impact that heavy water runoff can cause leaving a traditional downspout. With this in mind, don’t you think rain chains could be a win-win for your home? Better curb appeal and function to your gutters all while minimizing the impact on your landscape plants and design.
